Two goals in first period start Patriots on way to win
KINCARDINE – The Mount Forest Patriots scored twice in the first period on their way to a 3-2 victory over the Kincardine Bulldogs in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Saturday night at Kincardine’s Davidson Centre.
The Patriots added the lone goal of the second period while Kincardine scored in the ninth minute of the third to close the gap back to a single goal.

Calan Tanzi-Foshay, Benjamin Tenhag and Caleb Cribbin scored the goals for Mount Forest while Darcy Winkler assisted on two of the goals and Cribbin, Christopher Prucha and Tanzi-Foshay each had one assist.
Jordan Moulton and Carter Servais responded with single goals for Kincardine while assists were given to Bryce McFadden, Steven Grant and Jordan Beisel.
The Patriots outshot the Bulldogs 41-36, but were scoreless on two power plays while Kincardine went 1-for-4 with a manpower advantage.
Joshua Peters picked up the win in net for Mount Forest as he had 34 saves. Joshua Jacklin had 38 saves in the loss for Kincardine.
The Patriots are fourth in the Pollock Division at 5-3-0-1 while the Bulldogs are fifth at 3-5-0-1. Hanover Barons lead at 7-1-0-1 while Mitchell Hawks are second at 7-2-0-0, Wingham Ironmen third at 7-3-0-0, Walkerton Hawks sixth at 1-7-0-1 and Goderich Flyers seventh at 0-9-0-0.
The Patriots have two more road games on their schedule next weekend as they’re to play at Walkerton Friday at 8:20 p.m. and at Kincardine Sunday at 4 p.m.
