Two Predators teams unbeaten after first full day of tourney

GUELPH – A pair of teams representing the host Guelph Predators stand with two wins apiece following Friday’s first full day of action in the annual Guelph Ringette Association tournament.

The U10 Predators scored two wins Friday while the U14 A Predators had a win Friday to go with their win Thursday during the tournament’s opening night.

Tournament play is to resume Saturday and all of the tournament’s playoff matches, including all the division finals, are slated for Sunday.

 

U10

The Predators S blanked Cambridge S 7-0 and doubled Caledonia T 6-3.

Megan Hancock and Lexie Sisco had two goals apiece against Cambridge while single goals were added by Kirpal Chane, Kali Gonsalves, Isabelle Lemelin, Katie McElwain, Claire Pulleyblank and Alexa Whale. Chane and Gonsalves each had three assists while Ainslee Sewell, Sisco and Mavis Whitehead had two apiece and Hancock and Whale had one each.

Ffion Anthony and Lemelin each had two goals in the win over Caledonia while Hancock and Pulleyblank also scored. Whitehead collected two assists and Payton Dodd-Craig and Sewell each had one.

 

U12 R

The Predators K suffered a pair of 6-3 losses as they were defeated by Mississauga R and West Ferris R.

Grace Hendry scored all three goals against Mississauga while single assists were awarded to Grace Moyniha, Talyn Vincentini and Alison Wright.

Hendry also a hat trick against West Ferris while Moyniha and Wright each had two assists. Getting one assist apiece were Isabella Chappel and Vincentini.

 

U12 P

The Predators split their games as they were blanked 7-0 by Mississauga and tripled Timmins 9-3.

Abby Leclerc had four goals and two assists in the win over Timmins while Fahlyn Lamot scored twice and single goals were netted by Alex Boyko, Roslyn Curtis and Jordan Doherty. Boyko and Curtis each had three assists while Adrienne Bird, Doherty, Mary Duffy-Lazzari, Erica Hancock and Maddy Lecompte had one apiece.

 

U14 R

The Predators suffered a pair of two-goal losses as they were defeated 8-6 by Hamilton and 5-3 by Goderich.

Tyanna Saini hit for a pair of goals against Hamilton while Rhiannon Anthony, Hailey Donais and MacKenzie Hood added single goals. The scorer of the other goal was not available. Victoria Saini had two assists and Anthony, Donais, Hannah Kleist, Ella Petersen and Tyanna Saini had one each.

Brianna Blaymires, Hood and Tyanna Saini scored against Goderich while Donais had two assists and Blaymires had one.

 

U14 A

The Predators made it two wins in two outings with a 6-5 victory over West Ferris Friday. They had won their tournament opener 7-0 over Kitchener Thursday night.

Rachel Hancock led Guelph with two goals and two assists while Olivia Chappel, Bonita Dang, Mikaela Kemper and Marin Storey each had single goals. Holly Emeny also had two assists and Tessa Ahluwalia, Dang, Ava Fries and Storey had one each.

 

U16 R

Elora-Fergus Edge S had a tie and a loss Friday as they battled Mississauga R to a 2-2 standoff and were downed 7-1 by Goderich T.

The Edge came from behind for the tie, scoring both of their goals in the second period. Jacob Stirbet and Oliver Farrow picked up the goals while assists were awarded to

Rachel McCulloch, Kyle Stirbet, Sydney Feenstra and Amelia Farrow.

Nylah Christie-Smith scored against Goderich while Jaeden Shoemaker drew an assist on the goal.

 

U16 AA

The Predators split their games as they were handed a 5-3 setback by West Ottawa before they doubled Manitoba Eastman 4-2.

Rosie McDougall scored twice against West Ottawa while Samantha Tracey had the other goal. Skylar Lina assisted on all three goals while Tracey had two assists and Abby Auger had one.

Jaden Hounsell hit for a pair of goals against Manitoba while McDougall and Sarah Storey also scored. Hanna Hutton collected three assists and Meghan Claerbout, Lina, Kyleigh McClennan and Tracey had one apiece.

 

U19 A

The Predators had a loss and a tie in the tournament Friday as they were edged 7-6 by Timmins and they fought West Ferris to a 4-4 stalemate.

Jazmine Weber had a hat trick against Timmins and Abbi Crampton, Mackenzie Kuntz and Anna McDougall also scored. Amy Aitchison, Louana Meloche and Bailey Zulkosky each had two assists and Laina Carberry and Kuntz had one apiece.

Kuntz scored twice against West Ferris and single goals were added by Morgan Kirk and Zulkosky. Carberry assisted on two of the goals and Aitchison, Ashton Kemper, Kirk, McDougall and Meloche each had one assist.

 

U19 AA

The Predators scored five times each time out and that was good for a win and a loss.

They were nipped 6-5 by Alberta Zone Two before they downed London 5-2.

Claire Wyville fired in a pair of goals in the loss to Zone Two while single goals were added by Lauren Bilton, Lydia Duncan and Jada Laliberte. Getting one assist apiece were Sidney Claerbout, Hilary Davidson, Paige Miller and Wyville.

Emily Power had a hat trick in the win while Bronte Bilton had a goal and two assists and Wyville also scored. Lauren Eccles and Laliberte each had an assist.

 

18+ B

The Predators suffered a 7-4 loss to St. Catharines in their lone game Friday.

Lara Bisbee scored twice for the Predators while Kelly Barnes and Sarah Pezzano netted single goals. Kyla Huck assisted on two of the goals and Pezzano had one assist.

 

18+ University

The Guelph Gryphons dropped Laurentian 8-1 in their lone game Friday. They had suffered a 5-3 loss to Laurier in their tournament opener Thursday.

Haleigh Cole hit for a hat trick against Laurentian while Tara Jensen scored twice and Katelyn Desgagne, Alex Jackson and Gillian Marrow collected a goal apiece. Desgagne and Rachael Dickie each had three assists while Jackson and Brittney Littlefield each had two assists and Jensen, Maggie Kiernan and Marrow each had one.
