Two preseason games on schedule for Guelph Royals

GUELPH – The Guelph Royals have lined up a pair of preseason games for their return to IBL play this season.

The Royals are to play the Mississauga North Tigers May 10 at 7:30 p.m. and the University of Guelph Gryphons May 14 at 1 p.m.

Both games are to be played at Hastings Stadium.

Tickets are free, but have to be obtained through the Royals website (https://www.guelphroyals.com/2022-preseason-games). Tickets are also limited with attendance being capped at 250 per game.

Mississauga North plays in the Central Ontario junior baseball league and are actually slated to play their season opener against the Milton Jets in Milton the night before their game against the Royals.

The Gryphs, who have a working relationship with the Royals and will see some of their players in the Royals’ blue and white this season, had an overall 5-6 in a pandemic-influenced season last fall. They were 4-4 in conference play and 1-2 in the regional qualifiers, falling to the McMaster Marauders in the semifinals.

The Royals are to open their regular season May 21 with a home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Game time is 1 p.m.
