Unbeaten Westside, Centre Dufferin advance to soccer final

SHELBURNE – The Westside Thunder completed their unbeaten run through the District 4 high schools varsity boys’ soccer league regular season by posting three victories Monday.

The league held the second half of its regular season with games on two fields at Shelburne’s Greenwood Park and one field at Centre Dufferin District High School.

Westside defeated Erin Raiders, Centre Dufferin Two and Wellington Heights Wolverines to finish atop the standings with six wins in as many outings.

Centre Dufferin Royals placed second to gain the other berth in Thursday’s league final. Westside will be the home team in the match although time and location have not been announced.

Erin Raiders and Norwell Varsity Reds finished tied for third at 3-2-1 while Wellington Heights and Erin Two were tied for fifth at 2-4-0. Centre Dufferin Two was sixth at 0-6-0.

Anthony Alles had a pair of goals for Wellington Heights while Alec Burns also scored.

Jayden Jeffrey had the goal for Centre Dufferin Two.

Westside 2 Erin 0

Meeker tallied twice for Westside and Garcia had the clean sheet.

Centre Dufferin 1 Norwell 0

Corey Sterling scored the lone goal of the game.

Centre Dufferin 3 Erin 2

Scoring once each for Centre Dufferin were Justin Feild, Cory Stirling and Answe Newell.

Haddow and Chris Cooke scored for Erin.

Westside 7 Centre Dufferin Two 0

Ethan Bradberry hit for a hat trick for Westside while single goals were added by Everett Garcia, Liam Harvey, Alex Lamb and Connor Magnam. The shutout went to Jake Meeker.

Norwell 2 Erin Two 1

Scoring for Norwell were Kuipers and Kwisnicki.

Miller tallied for Erin Two.

Westside 4 Wellington Heights 1

Bradbury had two goals for Westside and E. Bradbury and Smarek had one apiece.

Alles potted the goal for Wellington Heights.

Erin Two 1 Centre Dufferin 0

Daniel Brooksbank had the game’s only goal.

Norwell 2 Centre Dufferin Two 0

Scorers for Norwell were P. Dineen and D. Pfeffer while D. Haycock collected the shutout.

Erin 6 Erin Two 1

Chris Cooke fired in two goals for Erin while Colin Gawthroupe, Braeden Haddow, Jace Medeiros and Logan Quaresma-Puzzo also scored.

Daniel Brooksbank picked up the goal for Erin Two.

Centre Dufferin 5 Wellington Heights 1

Avery Ritchen had a four-goal outing for Centre Dufferin and Corey Sterling added the other goal.

 Anthony Alles scored for Wellington Heights.
