Undefeated Spartans sweep volleyball twinbill
FERGUS – Centennial Spartans wrapped up undefeated regular seasons in District 10 high school boys’ volleyball by sweeping their senior/junior doubleheader with the Centre Wellington Falcons Tuesday.
The Spartans swept both in tight matches, winning 27-25, 25-17, 25-16 in senior and 25-21, 25-23, 25-20 in junior.
Centennial finished atop the senior standings at 7-0 while Centre Wellington was sixth at 3-4. In junior, Centennial was first at 7-0 and Centre Wellington was third at 5-2.
Playoffs start Wednesday with the semifinals. All four games are set for 4:15 p.m.
The senior semifinals feature Lourdes Crusaders at Centennial and Guelph CVI Green Gaels at Ross Royals. The junior semifinals put Bishop Macdonell Celtics at Centennial and Centre Wellington at Ross.
The finals are to go Monday. Highest-ranked semifinal survivor will host its division final.
