Union gives up early goal in loss to St. Catharines

ST. CATHARINES – Guelph Union surrendered a goal in the first 20 minutes of the game as they suffered a 1-0 loss to the St. Catharines Roma Wolves in League1 Ontario Women’s Premier soccer play Sunday at the Club Roma field.

Kasia Bak hit for the game’s only goal in the 19th minute.

Emma Hendrie had the clean sheet in the St. Catharines net.

Christina Alexander was in goal for Guelph.

Union is 13th in the 20-team league with a 5-5-2 record.

St. Catharines is tied for eighth at 7-6-0.

It was Union’s second consecutive 1-0 loss as they’d been beaten by that score by NDC-Ontario in a game in Woodbridge June 17.

Union is to play their third consecutive road game Wednesday when they’re to take on Pickering FC (1-8-3) at Pickering’s Kinsmen Park. Game time is 8 p.m.

The locals are to host ProStars FC (1-9-3) of Brampton at Alumni Stadium Sunday starting at 3 p.m.
