United B connects late for L1O Men’s Reserve win

GUELPH – A late goal lifted Guelph United B to a 1-0 victory over St. Catharines Roma Wolves B in League1 Ontario Men’s Reserve division soccer play Wednesday night at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.

Owen McKee scored in the 85th minute for the home side.

McKee’s goal was his division-leading eighth goal of the season. Teammate Markiyan Voytsekhovskyy is tied for fourth in the scoring race with four goals in five outings.

Carter Robart had the clean sheet in net for his third shutout of the year.

The win moves United B to top spot in the West Division at 7-1-2 with two games to go in their regular season, both on the road.

FC London B is second, a point behind, at 7-2-1 while Hamilton United is third at 5-3-2. They’re followed by St. Catharines Roma Wolves B at 3-4-4, Rush Academy at 4-5-1, ProStars Brampton FC C at 2-5-2 and Tecumseh SC B at 0-8-2.

United B is to play Rush Academy at Oakville’s Bronte Athletic Park next Wednesday at 8:45 p.m. and Tecumseh SC B at the University of Windsor Stadium Oct. 30 at 2 p.m.
