
United nips Unionville Milliken with second-half tally
GUELPH – A second-half goal moved Guelph United into a four-way tie for second place in League1 Ontario Men’s Premier soccer standings.
The goal by Tomasz Skublak in the 70th minute gave United a 1-0 victory over Unionville Milliken SC Friday night at Alumni Stadium.

The goal was Skublak’s team-high fifth of the season.
Svyatoslav Artemenko picked up the clean sheet in net for United.
The victory gives United a 5-2-1 record and 16 points.
Vaughan Azzurri leads the league at 5-0-2 and 17 points while Alliance United FC (5-1-1) of Scarborough, North Toronto Nitros (5-2-1) and Blue Devils FC (4-0-4) of Oakville all have 16 points.
United have already played all of those teams except the league leaders. They defeated Alliance 2-1 April 30 and North Toronto Nitros 4-1 last weekend and lost 2-0 to the Blue Devils May 29.
The locals are to play Azzurri at Vaughan Aug. 3.
Friday’s game was the first of three consecutive home games for United. They’re to host Sigma FC (4-3-1) of Mississauga Tuesday at 8 p.m. and Pickering FC (3-6-0) next Friday at 7:30 p.m.
