United tops Blue Devils to be lone unbeaten Premier West team

OAKVILLE – And then there was one.

Guelph United stands as the lone undefeated team in the League1 Ontario Men’s Premier West Division soccer play following a 5-0 victory over the previously-unbeaten Blue Devils FC Sunday afternoon at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School.

The result leaves United with a perfect 5-0-0 record following their first five games in the league while the Blue Devils drop to 3-1-1.

Jace Kotsopoulos hit for a hat trick for United while the other goals were scored by Tomasz Skublak and Alex Zis. Kotsopoulos has eight goals on the season while Skublak and Zis have five apiece.

Svyatoslav Artemenko was credited with the shutout.

Next up for United is a home game against Sigma FC () Sept. 11 at Alumni Stadium. Game time is 3 p.m.
