United’s Saturday match against Sigma FC postponed

GUELPH – Guelph United has had their League1 Ontario Men’s Premier soccer league game against Sigma FC scheduled for Saturday postponed.

The game was postponed by the league as a precautionary measure after a member of the would-be visitors tested positive for COVID-19. The game was to have been played at Alumni Stadium beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday.

The match was postponed as the league follows all local, provincial and federal guidelines to keep all participants, fans and staff safe.

The game was to have been the first for West Division-leading United since they blanked Blue Devils FC 5-0 at Oakville Aug. 29.

Next game for United (5-0-0) is set for Sept. 17 against North Mississauga SC (0-4-1) Sept. 17 at 8 p.m. at Mississauga’s Paramount Fine Foods Centre.

Next home game on United’s schedule is a match against Scrosoppi FC (1-3-1) of Milton Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.

No make-up date for the game against Sigma FC (3-1-1) has been announced. Tickets for Saturday’s game will be honoured for the game whenever it is played.
