Varsity Reds, Eagles remain in first-place tie in senior soccer

FERGUS – The Norwell Varsity Reds and Emmanuel Christian Eagles battled to a scoreless standoff in District 4 high school senior boys’ soccer play Wednesday at Victoria Park in Fergus.

Goalkeepers who earned clean sheets were not reported.

The tie was the second of the season between the two teams and it kept the Varsity Reds and Eagles knotted atop the standings with identical 4-0-2 records. The other tie was 2-2 at Palmerston Oct. 2.

Centre Dufferin Royals and Westside Thunder are tied for third as both are at 1-5-0.

Centre Dufferin’s first win of league play came by Westside’s forfeit.

Aidan Mackenzie powered Centre Dufferin to the win as he connected for five goals. Dylan Szymanski had a hat trick and Marcus Carvalho scored the other goal.

Westside received goals from Chris Srameki and Tyler Bradbury.
