Varsity Reds hit for their first win of season

GUELPH — The Norwell Varsity Reds claimed their first victory of the District 4 high school girls’ soccer season Monday.

The Varsity Reds edged the Wellington Heights Wolverines 2-1 in an evenly-contested match at the University of Guelph’s Gryphon Soccer Complex.

Maddie Klassen and Kelsey Walker scored the goals for Norwell.

Erin Whyte responded with the lone goal for Wellington Heights.

Westside Thunder leads the league at 2-0-0 while the Emmanuel Christian Eagles won their only league outing. Centre Dufferin Royals follow at 1-1-0 while Norwell’s at 1-2-0 and the loss was the second in as many outings for Wellington Heights.
