Varsity Reds secure top spot in senior volleyball

PALMERSTON – The Norwell Varsity Reds clinched a first-place finish in the District 4 high school senior girls’ volleyball league standings when they swept the Erin Raiders 3-0 Wednesday.

The Varsity Reds won 25-11, 25-7, 25-9.

With one match to go in the regular season following a two-week break for exams, Norwell leads the league at 8-1 and the Westside Thunder is second at 7-2. While the Thunder can move into a tie with the Varsity Reds, Norwell will win the tie-breaker as the Varsity Reds won one more set than the Thunder in their season split.

Norwell won 2-0 during a league mini-tournament Dec. 12 and Westside won 3-2 five days later when the teams met again.
