Visitors sweep to wins in senior girls’ volleyball

GUELPH – The visitors swept all three District 10 high school senior girls’ volleyball matches Tuesday.

The Guelph CVI Green Gaels, who had first place locked before the match, downed the Centre Wellington Falcons 25-6, 25-9, 25-18. The Falcons will finish either seventh or eighth. An eighth-place finish would mean a quarter-final match with the Gaels Monday at GCVI.

The Ross Royals defeated the Lourdes Crusaders 25-12, 25-20, 25-15. The win secured a home match in the quarter-finals for the Royals. They can finish anywhere from second to fourth. Like Centre Wellington, Lourdes will finish either seventh or eighth.

The St. James Lions dropped the Bishop Macdonell Celtics 25-23, 25-21, 25-14. Both teams remain in the hunt for a home game in the quarter-finals, but it’s a bit of a long shot for Bishop Mac and would come down to their game against Orangeville. The Lions can finish anywhere from second to sixth.
