Wickens 13th in practice for Honda Indy Toronto

TORONTO – Robert Wickens of Guelph was 13th fastest in practice Friday for this weekend’s Honda Indy Toronto race in the Verizon IndyCar Series.

Wickens turned in a fastest lap of 59.9862 seconds during his 41 laps. The series rookie was one of 13 to break the one-minute barrier.

Fastest in qualifying was veteran Scott Dixon at 59.0751 and that was almost half a second faster than runner-up Takuma Sato (59.5117).

While this weekend will be the first IndyCar race at Toronto for Wickens, he did finish seventh there in the 2007 Atlantic series race after qualifying third. Current teammate James Hinchcliffe was 11th and he had qualified ninth.

Qualifying for Sunday’s race is set for Saturday.
