Wickens finishes fifth in Iowa, Toronto next

NEWTON, Iowa – Robert Wickens of Guelph moved back into a tie for sixth in the Verizon IndyCar Series following a fifth-place finish Sunday at the Iowa Corn 300 at the Iowa Speedway.

Wickens finished fifth in the race won by fellow Canadian and Schmidt Peterson Motorsports teammate James Hinchcliffe.

Wickens was the fifth and final driver to complete the entire 300 laps of the race on the 0.894-mile circuit.

Hinchcliffe finished the race in 1:47:32.4666 while Wickens was 6.3214 seconds behind.

The result leaves Wickens with 304 points, the same as Graham Rahal.

Scott Dixon leads at 411 and is followed by Josef Newgarden at 378, Alexander Rossi at 370, Ryan Hunter-Reay at 359, Will Power at 358, Wickens, Rahal and Hinchcliffe at 280.

Next race in the series is Sunday’s Honda Indy Toronto.
