Wickens qualified sixth for ABC Supply 500

LONG POND, Pa. – Robert Wickens of Guelph qualified sixth for Sunday’s ABC Supply 500, the 14th round of this year’s Verizon IndyCar Series.

Wickens had a two-lap total time of 1:22.7160 for an average speed of 217.612 mph on the 2.5-mile three-turn Pocono Raceway course.

Will Power was fastest qualifier at 219.511 mph and was followed by Josef Newgarden at 218.802, Alexander Rossi at 218.758, Ryan Hunter-Reay at 217.806 and Simon Pagenaud at 217.769.

Wickens enters the race sixth in points at 380. Scott Dixon leads at 494 while Rossi is second at 448 and Newgarden third at 434. Power is fourth at 407 and Hunter-Reay fifth at 399.

After the Pocono race there’ll be three races to go in the season – the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at Gateway Motorsports Park next weekend, the Grand Prix of Portland at the Portland International Raceway Sept. 2 and the IndyCar Grand Prix of Sonoma at the Sonoma Raceway Sept. 16.
