Wickens qualifies 10th for Honda Indy Toronto
TORONTO – Robert Wickens of Guelph qualified 10th for his first Verizon IndyCar Series race at Toronto.
Saturday, Wickens posted a best time of 59.1705 seconds in the second round of qualifying, the top 12 elimination round.
He’s to start Sunday’s Honda Indy Toronto in and around the Exhibition grounds on the fifth row with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports teammate James Hinchcliffe of Toronto who qualified ninth at 59.1581 seconds.
The third Canadian in the race, Zachary Claman De Melo of Montreal qualified 23rd at 1:00.6416.
Josef Newgarden was fastest qualifier in round 3, the Firestone Fast Six session, with a time of 59.4956 to claim pole position.
Sunday’s race is to start at 3 p.m.
