Win, two losses for Regals, Mohawks in preseason

FERGUS – The Guelph Regals and Elora Mohawks both posted a win and two losses in Elora’s four-team preseason junior B lacrosse tournament at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex Saturday.

The Regals defeated the West Durham Ironheads 6-1 after suffering losses to the Mohawks (7-4) and Orangeville Northmen (10-4).

The Mohawks started the tournament with the win over the Regals before they fell 8-7 to West Durham and 5-4 to Orangeville.

The Northmen were undefeated as they dropped the Ironheads 9-1.

Individual scoring and goaltending details were not reported.

The Regals are to open their Ontario junior B regular season April 21 with a game against the St. Catharines Spartans at St. Catharines and they’re also to host the Wallaceburg Red Devils at the Victoria Road arena April 23 at 3 p.m.

The Mohawks are to begin their regular season April 22 with a road game against the Six Nations Rebels while their home opener is slated for April 24 against the Hamilton Bengals at the Elora and District Community Centre at 7 p.m.
