Wolverines get first win in time for midway break

MOUNT FOREST – The Wellington Heights Wolverines captured their first win of the District 4 high school senior boys’ basketball season Wednesday when they downed the Norwell Varsity Reds 58-42.

Eli McDougall-Cook hit for a game-high 27 points for Wellington Heights while Ethan Andrews followed with 10.

Dawson Benjamin, Ry Kuper and Adam Chittick each had 11 for Norwell.

The league hits the Christmas break at the midway point of its season.

Centre Dufferin Royals lead at 4-0 and are followed by the Emmanuel Christian Eagles at 3-1, Erin Raiders at 2-2, Wellington Heights at 1-3 and Norwell at 0-4.

Connor McCulloch netted 13 points for Norwell while Blake Skerrit contributed 10.

Carson Muir had 15 for Wellington Heights and Evan Eidt chipped in with 10.

The junior league is also at its midway point.

Centre Dufferin leads at 5-0 while the Westside Thunder’s at 4-1, Norwell and Wellington Heights are both at 2-3 and Emmanuel Christian and Erin are both at 1-4.
