Wolverines move into tie for top spot in senior hoops

PALMERSTON – The Wellington Heights Wolverines moved into a tie for first place in the District 4 high school senior boys’ basketball league at the expense of the Norwell Varsity Reds who made their seasonal debut Monday.

The Wolverines handed the Varsity Reds a 51-39 setback to move to 3-2 on the season.

Carson Muir had 14 points for Wellington Heights while Adam Chittick had 12 for Norwell.

The Centre Dufferin Royals are a perfect 3-0 while the other team in the league, the Emmanuel Christian Eagles, are 0-3.

Kian Drogg struck for 11 points for Wellington Heights while Lucas Fidler had eight.

Blake Skerritt collected 20 for Norwell while Micah Sumner added 11.

Centre Dufferin Royals lead the league at 5-0 and they’re followed by the Erin Raiders at 4-1, Westside Thunder at 4-2, Emmanuel Christian Eagles at 2-4, Wellington Heights at 1-4 and Norwell at 0-5.
