Wolverines skate into boys hockey quarter-finals

MOUNT FOREST – The Wellington Heights Wolverines gained their spot in the District 4/10 high school boys’ hockey league’s quarter-finals by topping the Centennial Spartans 6-2 in Friday’s play-in game at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex.

Will Lewis struck for four goals for Wellington Heights while Trae Verbeek and Eli Cook added single goals.

Ethan Kilmurry and Connor Pyear scored for Centennial.

The Wolverines had finished the regular season in eighth place while the Spartans were ninth.

With the win Wellington Heights gets to play the first-place Centre Wellington Falcons of Fergus in a quarter-final match Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex.
