Wolverines, Thunder hockey boys post wins to remain in tie

GUELPH – The Wellington Heights Wolverines and Westside Thunder kept pace with one another in the District 4/10 high school boys’ hockey league Thursday as both recorded victories.

The Wolverines blanked the Guelph CVI Green Gaels 6-0 at the West End arena while the Thunder edged the Centennial Spartans 2-1 at Centennial arena.

The results keep Wellington Heights and Westside in their tie for seventh place in the nine-team league.

The Wolverines enter the Christmas break at 2-5-0-0 while the win was Westside’s first of the season. They’re at 1-5-1-1.

GCVI is sixth at 3-5-0-0 and Centennial is ninth at 0-8-0-0.

 

Wellington Heights 6 Guelph CVI 0

Brody Leblanc and Alex Iles scored twice apiece for Wellington Heights while the other goals were scored by Will Lewis and Owen Weiser.
