
Zhilkin hits to give Storm victory in overtime
GUELPH – Danny Zhilkin’s goal three and a half minutes into overtime lifted the Guelph Storm to a 3-2 victory over the Kitchener Rangers in OHL play Friday night at the Sleeman Centre.
The goal allowed the Storm to win a game in which they had more than twice the shots on goal as the Rangers.

The teams were tied 1-1 at the end of the first period with both goals coming in the final three minutes of the period. The second period was scoreless while Kitchener took the lead in the first three minutes of the third before Braeden Bowman pulled the hosts even two and a half minutes later.
Cooper Walker scored the first-period goal for Guelph while Matthew Papais had two assists and Ben McFarlane, Jake Karabela and Michael Buchinger each had one assist.
Reid Valade and Carson Rehkopf had the goals for Kitchener while Mike Petizian, Ty Hollett, Francesco Pinelli and Valade each collected an assist.
The Storm outshot the Rangers 44-19 while Kitchener goalkeeper Pavel Cajan turned aside 41 shots. Jacob Oster had 17 saves for the Storm.
The Storm have one game to go in their regular season as they’re to host the Windsor Spitfires Saturday at 7 p.m.
