10th-ranked Gryphon men sweep RMC Paladins aside

KINGSTON – The 10th-ranked Guelph Gryphons struck for a sweeping of the RMC Paladins in OUA men’s volleyball play Friday night at RMC’s SAM Gymnasium.

The Gryphs kept the Paladins winless as they posted 25-12, 25-14, 25-14 set wins.

Liam Kinghan had 11 kills and an ace for Guelph while Jonathan Pickett had seven kills and a block and Nathan Peters added six kills and an ace. Jack Richards had an ace and 11 assists while Alexander Odle had two blocks and six digs, Thomas Pugsley had 18 assists and five digs, Daniel Pickett had five digs, Joshua Glasbergen had two blocks and Noah Romero Marshall had an assist.

Maciej Tereszko had 10 kills, a block and three digs for RMC while Andrew Gallant had 14 assists, Cameron Moar had three digs and Daniel Hurtado had a block.

The Gryphs dominated the stats as they had 40 kills, three aces, five blocks, 34 assists, 24 digs and a .507 kill percentage while RMC had 19 kills, no aces, two blocks, 14 assists, eight digs and a .157 kill percentage.

The Gryphs have defeated the Paladins 17 consecutive times in the last 13½ years with 13 of the wins coming in the minimum three sets. None of the matches have gone to a deciding fifth set.

The result leaves the Gryphs at a league-best 10-2 and RMC at 0-11.

The two teams are to meet again Saturday at 4 p.m. at RMC’s gym.
