Bishop Mac gets unbeaten regular season in senior soccer

GUELPH – The Bishop Macdonell Celtics completed an undefeated run through the District 10 high school senior boys’ soccer league’s regular season by wrapping up the campaign with a 4-0 victory over the Ross Royals Tuesday.

The win was the seventh in seven league outings for the Celtics while the loss evens Ross’s record at 3-3-1.

Centennial Spartans finished second at 4-1-2 and the Guelph CVI Green Gaels were third at 3-1-3. Ross was fourth and they were followed by the Orangeville Bears in fifth at 2-3-2, Centre Wellington Falcons in sixth at 2-4-1, St. James Lions in seventh at 1-4-2 and Lourdes Crusaders in eighth at 0-6-1.

Brandon Robertson, Rajan Ghuman, Martin Cubides and Jesse Atta-Konadu each had a goal for Bishop Mac Tuesday.

Playoffs are to start Thursday with the quarter-finals. Centennial is to host St. James at 2:30 p.m. while Orangeville is to play at Ross at 4 p.m. There’s two games set for the Gryphon Soccer Complex at 3:30 p.m. with Lourdes playing Bishop Mac on the west field and Centre Wellington and GCVI tangling on the east field.

Quarter-final winners are to advance to next Tuesday’s semifinals and that day’s victors are to battle in the championship game Oct. 19.

Ryder West had two goals for Centennial while Logan Lontok scored the other one.

Omar Ladhani scored all three goals for GCVI.

Logan and Taylor shared the clean sheet.

Sebe had a hat trick while Timi tallied twice and Samuel and Spencer had single scores.

Guelph CVI 3 Centennial 2

Bardia S, Omar S and Anwar M had a goal apiece for GCVI.

Centennial’s goals were scored by Romeo K and Ibrahim A.

 

Ross 3 Bishop Macdonell 2

Ross received single goals from Alejandro Lopez Ramirez, Peyton Smith and Ben Hannaberg.

Harrison Redford and Sam Petrahita collected a goal apiece for Bishop Mac.
