Bishop Mac seniors keep eye on fourth behind trio tied for lead

GUELPH – While the Bishop Macdonell Celtics kept their hopes of getting a home game in the District 10 high school senior girls’ basketball league alive with a win Tuesday, three teams finished the day’s action tied for top spot.

The Celtics had seven players suited up for the game as they tripled the St. James Lions 66-22 on their home court.

Bishop Mac stands fifth in the standings at 6-5 and top four are to host quarter-final playoff games Nov. 7. Ross Royals are fourth at 7-4, but the Celtics will have to finish with more wins than the Royals to grab a fourth-place finish as Ross will win the tiebreaker.

Tuesday’s results left the Centennial Spartans, Orangeville Bears and Guelph CVI Green Gaels tied for first at 9-2. Lourdes Crusaders are sixth at 3-8, St. James Lions seventh at 1-10 and Centre Wellington Falcons eighth at 0-11.
