District 10

Celtics add to league-best win total in senior boys’ soccer

FERGUS – The Bishop Macdonell Celtics kept a perfect record in District 10 high school senior boys’ soccer play Tuesday when they slipped by the Centre Wellington Falcons 4-3 at Centre Wellington.

Tyler Frigon collected a pair of goals for Bishop Mac while Chris Botelho and Chris Qushair added single goals.

Spencer Anderson, Sam Gitter and Timi Banjo netted a goal apiece for Centre Wellington.

The win was the fifth in as many league outings for the Celtics. However, the three goals scored by the host Falcons raise Bishop Mac’s goals-against average to an even 1.00.

Centennial Spartans are second in the standings at 3-1-1 and are followed by the Orangeville Bears (2-2-1), Ross Royals (2-2-1), Guelph CVI Green Gaels (1-1-2), St. James Lions (1-2-2), Centre Wellington (1-3-1) and Lourdes Crusaders (0-4-0).

The regular season is to wrap up next Tuesday and the playoffs are to start Oct. 12.

Evan Geensen and Tri Nguyen connected for a goal apiece for Ross. Daniel Rojas had the clean sheet in net.
