Centennial connects to stay undefeated in senior soccer

GUELPH – The Centennial Spartans struck for three goals in the second half as they remained unbeaten in the District 10 high school senior boys’ soccer league with a 5-1 victory over the St. James Lions at St. James Tuesday.

Malcolm Thompson scored twice for the Spartans while single goals were netted by Omar Alasaad, Griffin Stronks and Marcus Taggart.

Dante Cal-Bowman scored the lone goal for St. James.

Bishop Macdonell Celtics lead the league at 3-0-0 while Centennial is close behind at 2-0-1. Guelph CVI Green Gaels, Centre Wellington Falcons and Orangeville Bears are each at 1-1-1 and they’re followed by the Ross Royals at 1-2-0, St. James at 0-1-2 and the Lourdes Crusaders at 0-3-0.

Four players handled the scoring for Bishop Mac as Chris Faustino, Chris Qushair, Brandon Robertson and Ethan Fraser connected for two goals apiece.

 

Guelph CVI 3 Centre Wellington 0

Ladhani, Scadding and Zettel hit for a goal apiece for GCVI.

 

Orangeville 2 Ross 1

Jack Haddock and Scott Wade fired in the goals for Orangeville.

Kai Chin had the goal for Ross.

 

Junior Boys’ Soccer

Guelph CVI Green Gaels lead the league at 2-0-0 while the Ross Royals and Centennial Spartans are both at 1-0-1. Bishop Macdonell Celtics are at 1-1-0, St. James Lions are at 1-2-0 and Orangeville Bears are at 0-3-0.

 

Ross 11 Orangeville 2

Xavier Yip-Chuck and Ben Hannaberg struck for two goals apiece for Ross while Parker Carruthers, Beck Konyu, Alejandro Lopez Ramirez, Tyson Romero, Alex Saurette, Peyton Smith, Camden Snow and Ewan Williams chipped in with single goals.

Zoli DiSanto scored both goals for Orangeville.

 

Centennial 5 St. James 2

Ibrahim Alasaad connected for four goals for Centennial while Abaya scored the other one.

Gentry Graham and Urysty tallied for St. James.
