Centennial moves into tie for lead in boys’ hockey

GUELPH – The Centennial Spartans remained unbeaten in the District 4/10 high school boys’ hockey season Thursday to move into a tie for first place in the nine-team league.

The Spartans nipped the Centre Dufferin Royals 3-2 at Centennial arena.

Matthew Stam, Tyler Chadwick and Kalyn McQueen each had a goal for Centennial.

Callum Stevenson and Owen Stinson had a goal apiece for Centre Dufferin.

The Spartans and Ross Royals are tied for the league lead with 3-0-0-0 records. Erin Raiders are third at 1-1-0-1 while the Norwell Varsity Reds have won their lone league outing. Orangeville Bears, Bishop Macdonell Celtics and St. James Lions are each at 1-1-0-0 while Centre Dufferin is at 1-3-0-0 and Centre Wellington Falcons trail at 0-4-0-0.

Haddow and Neal had hat tricks for Erin while Purdy also scored.

Bishop Mac received two goals from Willsie and one each from Chappel and Moro.
