Centre Dufferin to host both boys’ basketball finals

PALMERSTON – The Norwell Varsity Reds and the Centre Dufferin Royals are to meet Wednesday in Shelburne in the District 4 high school senior boys’ basketball league’s championship match.

Norwell and Centre Dufferin both recorded home victories in Monday’s semifinals.

Norwell slipped by the Westside Thunder 50-43 while Centre Dufferin downed the Emmanuel Christian Eagles 73-12.

B. Hale had 34 points for Norwell while Cameron Fradette had seven for Westside.

Leading scorers were not reported for the other game.

Centre Dufferin finished atop the four-team league at 6-0 while Norwell was second at 4-2.

The Royals beat the Varsity Reds 66-49 and 77-45 in their regular-season meetings.

Game time Wednesday at Centre Dufferin is 2:30 p.m.

 

Junior Boys’ Basketball

Centre Dufferin is also to host the junior final Wednesday after the Royals defeated Emmanuel Christian 77-30 in Monday’s semifinals.

Scoring leaders were not reported.

The other semifinal finished with the Erin Raiders beating Westside 81-52.

C. Bowers had 40 points for the Raiders while E. Murcia added 29.

E. Mistry had 14 for Westside and J. Kirkland contributed 11.

Centre Dufferin, Erin and Westside tied for first in the five-team league with 6-2 records.

Centre Dufferin and Erin are to battle in the final Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Centre Dufferin.

The Royals and Raiders split their regular-season games with the road team winning both games. Centre Dufferin won 68-34 in Erin while Erin won 58-40 in Shelburne.
