Creemore squares OEHL semifinal with Minto 81’s

CREEMORE – The Minto 81’s yielded the final four goals of the game as they were tripled 6-2 by the Creemore Coyotes in Ontario Elite Hockey League play Saturday at the Creemore and District Recreation Centre.

The result squares the best-of-seven semifinal at a win apiece.

Minto had the early lead Saturday with the lone goal of the first period before Creemore shot ahead with two goals in the second. The 81’s pulled even 1:30 into the third period before Creemore shot ahead for good less than a minute and a half later.

Steven Grant scored both goals for the 81’s while Jordan Delaurier assisted on both goals and Adam Kawalec had one assist.

JD Falconer scored twice for Creemore while single goals were added by Owen King, Adam Logozzo, Jacob Vander Zaag and Anthony Novielli. Derick Robertson and Kyle Montpetit each had two assists while single assists were awarded to Vander Zaag, Falconer, Kyle Linney, Logozzo, Aiden McKenzie and Kris Dobinson.

Shots on goal were not recorded and both teams were scoreless on two power plays, although the Coyotes had a shorthanded goal.

Daniel Dekoening was in net for Minto the entire game while Creemore used Brendan Macham in the first period and Mason Kameka in the second and third periods.

Third game of the series is set for Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Palmerston and District Community Centre Complex.
