Elora Mohawks connect to clobber Welland Generals

The Elora Mohawks held the Welland Generals to two goals after the first period as they ran to a 27-5 victory in Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League play Saturday at the Jefferson Elora Community Centre.

The Mohawks led 6-3 at the end of the first period and 16-5 after the second.

Elora outshot Welland 93-21 and scored the final 13 goals of the game.

Evan McDougall had six goals and seven assists for the Mohawks while Keegan Detweiler had six goals and six assists. Brinley Wilson collected three goals and eight assists while Nate Renaud had three goals and six assists and Owen Moore gathered two goals and six assists. Aidan McDougall had two goals and four assists while Owen Tovell, Carter Coffey, Cole Hunsberger, Jabe Verbeek and Connor Willmets each added a single goal. Hunsberger had three assists while Tovell, Brock Redwood and Verbeek each had an assist.

Scoring for Welland were Joey Young, Owen Millar, Josh Calder, Garrett Liddiard and Liam Legault.

Carter Billings had 16 saves for the Mohawks.

Elora had two power-play goals while Welland had a shorthanded goal.
