Elora Mohawks get stingy with Owen Sound North Stars

The Elora Mohawks held the Owen Sound North Stars to a single goal in each period as they recorded a 14-3 victory in Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League play Thursday at the Jefferson Elora Community Centre.

The Mohawks led 4-1 at the end of the first period and 8-2 after the second.

Brinley Wilson had three goals and five assists for Elora while Evan McDougall, Aidan McDougall, Nate Renaud and Keegan Detweiler added two goals apiece. Also scoring with a goal apiece were Carter Coffey, Owen Moore and Connor Willmets. Aidan McDougall had four assists while JJ Lavigne, Evan McDougall, Renaud and Detweiler each had three assists and Moore had two.

Everest L’Homme Wickens had two goals for Owen Sound while Carter Moran had the other one.

The Mohawks outshot the North Stars 61-29.

Sam Forbes started in net for Elora and had 21 saves while Carter Billings stopped all five shots fired his was in the final 11:33 of the game.

The Mohawks collected six power-play goals and a shorthanded tally while Owen Sound had a power-play goal.
