Elora Rocks double Woodstock Lakers in WOSHL

WOODSTOCK – The Elora Rocks outscored the Woodstock Lakers 2-1 in each period as they scored a 6-3 victory in Western Ontario Super Hockey League play Saturday night at Woodstock’s Southwood Arena.

The Rocks led 2-1 after the first period and 4-2 after the second.

Spencer Gourlay had a pair of goals for the Rocks while Spencer MacCormack, Chad Herron, Brendan Woods and Clayton Peterek added single goals. Herron, Nicholas Boehmer and Jeff White collected two assists apiece while Alex Uttley, Keaton McLaughlin and Matteo Condotta had one assist apiece.

Scoring for Woodstock were Lodie Ipeelie, Mitch Britton and Kevin Hu while assists went to Brody Martin, Christian Polillo and Corey Flemington.

The Rocks won despite being outshot 45-28. They went 2-for-4 on their power play while the Lakers were scoreless on five power plays.

Colin Dunne had 42 saves for Elora while Ben Edwards had 22 for Woodstock.

The Rocks (3-2-0-0) are to play the Orangeville Blitz (0-5-0-0) at Orangeville’s Alder Arena Saturday at 8 p.m.
