Erin Outlaws net three in third to top Applekings

THORNBURY – The Erin Outlaws struck for three goals in the third period to down the Georgian Bay Applekings 5-2 in Ontario Elite Hockey League play Friday at the Beaver Valley Community Centre and Arena.

Georgian Bay scored the lone goal of the first period before Erin rallied to tie it 2-2 by the end of the second.

Blake Lovell had two goals and an assist for the Outlaws while Brad Holman had a goal and two assists. Jacob Miller and Joey Warywoda added single goals while Jacob Coulson had two assists and Joseph Franzin, Chris Lachance, Kolton Maguire, Jesse Chidwick and Travis Brown had one assist apiece.

Logan Blaser had a goal and an assist for the Applekings while Kevin Shuttleworth scored the other goal and Neal Ross, Tristen Park and Jamie Wise each had an assist.

Georgian Bay outshot Erin 39-36, but were scoreless on three power plays while the Outlaws went 1-for-2 on their power play.

Connor Toogood had 37 saves for Erin while Noah Featherstonhaugh Gowe had 31 for Georgian Bay.
