Falcons finish girls’ hockey regular season with shutout win

FERGUS – The Centre Wellington Falcons completed their undefeated trek through the District 10 high school girls’ hockey season with a 2-0 victory over the Ross Royals Tuesday at the Centre Wellington and District Sports Complex.

The game meant nothing to the final standings as all five teams were locked into the positions.

Centre Wellington finished first at 8-0-0-0 (W-L-T-OTL) while Ross was second at 5-3-0-0, Centennial Spartans third at 4-4-0-0, Orangeville Bears fourth at 3-5-0-0 and St. James Lions fifth at 0-8-0-0.

Avery Peters, Keira Healy, Tatum Long and Avery Diljee picked up points for the Falcons in the game.

Playoffs are to begin Wednesday with the lone quarter-final game as St. James is to play Orangeville at Orangeville’s Tony Rose arena.

Winner is to advance to next Wednesday’s semifinals with a game against Centre Wellington in Fergus at 2 p.m. while Centennial and Ross are to clash at the Victoria Road arena at 2:30 p.m. that day.

The championship final is to go Feb. 28. Time and location are to be decided after the semifinals are complete.
