Falcons score in each half to grab first win of season

GUELPH – The Centre Wellington Falcons scored once in each half to claim their first win in District 10 high school senior boys’ soccer play Thursday.

Those goals helped the Falcons edge the Lourdes Crusaders 2-1 in a closely-fought battle at Lourdes.

While it was the first win for the Falcons, it kept them unbeaten as they’d tied their season opener Tuesday.

Jacob Pearson and Aidan Graham scored the goals for the Falcons Thursday.

Tesfu Tsegay tallied for Lourdes.

Bishop Macdonell Celtics lead the league as the lone team to have won both of their games this week. Centennial Spartans and Centre Wellington are both at 1-0-1 and are followed by the Ross Royals at 1-1-0, St. James Lions at 0-0-2, Guelph CVI Green Gaels and Orangeville Bears both at 0-1-1 and Lourdes at 0-2-0.

Logan Lontok had a pair of goals for Centennial while Nick Joy and Omar Alasaad also scored.

Kaichin connected for both goals for Ross.

 

Bishop Macdonell 3 Guelph CVI 2

Ethan Fraser hit for a pair of goals for Bishop Mac while Brandon Robertson scored the other one.

GCVI received goals from Clive Bradshaw and Omar Ladhani.

 

St. James 2 Orangeville 2

Dante Cal-Bowman and Naod Haile hit for a goal apiece for St. James.

Scoring for Orangeville were Nolan Conroy and Ilich Gutierrez.

 

Junior Boys’ Soccer

Guelph CVI Green Gaels are the lone team to have won both of its outings this week, their second win being a 10-2 victory over the Bishop Macdonell Celtics Thursday

Scoring details from that game were not reported.

 

St. James 5 Orangeville 0

Dax Falkingham and Even Kubrom scored twice apiece for St. James while Nathan Rombeiro had the game’s other goal.

 

Ross vs. Centennial
