Falcons, Spartans to battle in girls’ hockey final

FERGUS – The Centre Wellington Falcons and Centennial Spartans are to meet in the District 10 high school girls’ hockey league’s final Tuesday at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.

Both won semifinal matches Wednesday as Falcons blanked the Orangeville Bears 7-0 in Fergus and Centennial surprised the Ross Royals 5-1 at the Victoria Road arena.

Jadynn McCracken led Centre Wellington with three points while Shaylynn Montgomery, Riley Leslie and Avery Diljee had two apiece. Keira Healy, Ellen Bauman, Avery Peters, Faith Willmets, Denver Feltham, Addi Oaks, Hannah Turner and Yasmin Morreau had one apiece.

Centre Wellington finished first at the end of the regular season with a perfect 8-0-0-0 (W-L-T-OTL) record while Centennial was third at 4-4-0-0.

The Falcons defeated the Spartans 6-0 in Fergus Nov. 14 and 6-0 at Centennial arena 13 days later.

Tuesday’s final is to start at 1 p.m.
