Fergus Thistles double up on Halton Hills Bulldogs

The Fergus Thistles scored at least five goals in each period as they downed the Halton Hills Bulldogs 16-8 Monday night at Georgetown’s Moldmasters Sportsplex.

The Thistles led 6-2 at the end of the first period and 11-7 at the end of the second.

Tye Sanderson had five goals and four assists for the Thistles while Lucas Rathwell had two goals and six assists, Hayden Sikkes had two goals and four assists, Griffin Mackie had two goals and three assists, Brendan Gerber had two goals and one assist and Hudson Cox also scored twice. Braiden Wilton added the other goal and had two assists while Cameron Pelkie, Ryerson Doucette and goaltender Ryan Rooney each had one assist.

Jackson Baxter and Liam Allington had two goals apiece for Halton Hills while single goals were netted by Chase Ware, Aiden Hewitt, Liam Quinn and Colton Robson. Ryan Fancett assisted on three of the goals while Baxter, Matthew Fairhead, Nicholas Quedado and Devin Bastedo each had one assist.

Shots on net were not reported. The Thistles had a power-play goal and a shorthanded goal while the Bulldogs also had a power-play goal.

Rooney was in net for Fergus while Logan Adams tended goal for Halton Hills.

The Thistles have games on back-to-back nights later this week as they’re to host the West Grey Rampage Friday at 8 p.m. at the Jefferson Elora Community Centre and play the Six Nations Stealth at the Six Nations Sports and Cultural Memorial Centre Saturday at 7 p.m. in their first of four consecutive road games.
