Fergus Thistles edged by Six Nations this time

The Fergus Thistles yielded a pair of third-period goals just over a minute apart as they were nipped 11-10 by the Six Nations Stealth in Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League play Saturday at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Hagersville.

The Thistles, who had beaten the Stealth 6-4 in Fergus two days earlier, led 5-3 at the end of the first period before Six Nations pulled even 9-9 with the final four goals of the second.

The Stealth continued their scoring streak with a power-play goal and a shorthanded goal midway through the third before the Thistles completed the scoring with 46 seconds to go.

Aiden McDougall and Jordan Mueller had two goals apiece for the Thistles while singletons were netted by Kody Brown, Kaiden Patterson, Logan Joyes, Spencer Aitchison, Owen Hahn and Jared Bettovil. Tye Sanderson assisted on three of the goals while Bettonvil had two assists and McDougall, Connor Hulme, Joyes, Cooper Fleet, Mueller and Jack Webley had one apiece.

Brian Laforme and Tylan Hill each had three goals and two assists for Six Nations while Jacob Skye scored twice and Cal Anderson, Johnny Jacobs and Kagan General each had single goals. Anderson had three assists while Jacksen Henhawk and Kevin Henhawk each had two assists and Skye had one.

Shots on net were not recorded.

The Thistles were called for 12 minutes in penalties while the Stealth were assessed 24.

Sam Krauter was in net for Fergus while Kayden Hearn was between the pipes for Six Nations.

Orangeville Northmen lead the Western Conference standings at 3-0-0 (W-L-T) while the Brantford Warriors are second at 2-1-1. Barrie Bombers and Wilmot Wild are both at 1-1-0 while the Thistles and Six Nations are both at 1-3-0 and Halton Hills Bulldogs trail at 0-0-1.

The Thistles are to host Brantford Friday at 8 p.m. at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.
