Fergus Thistles fade in loss to Brantford Warriors

The Fergus Thistles yielded five unanswered goals in the third period as they were edged 10-8 by the Brantford Warriors in Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League play Sunday at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.

The Thistles led 5-2 at the end of the first period and 8-5 after the second.

Kaiden Patterson and Logan Joyes had two goals apiece for Fergus while single goals were netted by Curtis Dietrich, Aiden McDougall, Jordan Mueller and Jack Webley. Tye Sanderson had three assists while Dietrich and Cooper Fleet had two each and Kody Brown, Joyes and Hayden Sabourin had one each.

Krystof Adamiec fired in five goals for Brantford while Quinton Riggs had two and Brendan Keogh, Carter Christilaw and Braedon Mair had one each.

Brantford outshot the Thistles 44-41 and had two power-play goals while Fergus had three power-play goals.

Ethan Bratton had 33 saves for the Thistles in the first 58:34 while Eric Krauter stopped the only shot he faced in the final 49 seconds. Brantford didn’t score in the 37 seconds the Thistles played with an empty net.
