Fergus Thistles get hot in second to down Brantford

The Fergus Thistles erupted for six goals in the second period as they dropped the Brantford Warriors 13-6 in Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League play Friday at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.

Fergus led 4-3 at the end of the first period and 10-4 after the second.

Jordan Mueller hit for five goals for Fergus while Aiden McDougall had a hat trick. Cooper Fleet added a pair of goals while single goals were scored by Kody Brown, Logan Joyes and Brodie Rice. McDougall had three assists while Brown, Jared Bettonvil, Tye Sanderson and Mueller each had two. Getting one assist each were Kaiden Patterson, Joyes and Fleet.

Scoring once apiece for Brantford were Trent Schertzing, Justin Brennecke, Krystof Adamiec, Carter Christilaw, Braedon Mair and Quinton Riggs.

The Thistles outshot the Warriors 40-34 and had three power-play goals and a shorthanded goal.

Ethan Bratton had 28 saves for Fergus.
