Fergus Whalers clipped by Kincardine Bulldogs

KINCARDINE – A pair of goals 73 seconds apart late in the second period sparked the Kincardine Bulldogs to a 4-1 victory over the Fergus Whalers in PJHL play Saturday afternoon at Kincardine’s Davidson Centre.

Kincardine scored the lone goal of the first period before the Whalers pulled even midway through the second period.

Jett Morningstar scored the lone goal, a power-play marker, for Fergus with help from Jack McDonald and Tyler Ewald.

Gavin Downs scored seven and a half minutes later to put Kincardine ahead while Chad Lawrence extended the lead for the Bulldogs with 1:34 to go in the second.

Nolan MacKinnon added an empty-netter for Kincardine with 10 seconds to go in the third while Carter Servais scored a power-play goal in the first.

Servais also had two assists in the game while single assists were awarded to Jordan Moulton, Liam Colhoun, Graeden Colhoun and Kyle Dolmage.

The Bulldogs outshot the Whalers 44-31 and went 1-for-8 on their power play while Fergus went 1-for-5.

Bradley Boville had 40 saves in the Fergus net while Kincardine’s Rowen Cherrett had 30 saves.

Next game for the Whalers is Sunday at 3 p.m. against the Mount Forest Patriots at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex.
