Fergus Whalers nipped by Kincardine Bulldogs

KINCARDINE – Kincardine Bulldogs scored the lone goal of the third period to edge the Fergus Whalers 3-2 in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Friday night at Kincardine’s Davidson Centre.

That goal by Tyler Wagler at 5:07 of the third period gave Kincardine the lead for the first time in the game.

The teams had been tied 1-1 at the end of the first period and 2-2 after the second.

Zach Nault and Aidan Mead scored their first goals of the season for the Whalers while Ty Anselmini, Ryan McDougall, Ethan Meeker and Ryan Oakes each had one assist.

Jordan Moulton and Carter Servais had the other goals for Kincardine while Moulton and Liam Colhoun each had two assists. Jordan Beisel had one assist.

The Bulldogs outshot the Whalers 41-28 and neither team scored a power-play goal, Kincardine on three power plays and Fergus on four.

Bradley Boville had 38 saves for Fergus while Carter Garvie had 26 for Kincardine.

Hanover Barons lead the Pollock Division at 12-0-0-1 and are followed by Kincardine (9-3-1-2), Walkerton Capitals (8-4-1-0), Mount Forest Patriots (8-4-1-0), Wingham Ironmen (6-8-1-0), Mitchell Hawks (4-7-2-0), the Whalers (3-8-2-2) and Goderich Flyers (2-10-0-1).

The Whalers are to play the Patriots at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex Nov. 10 at 8:30 p.m.
