Five-goal run helps Guelph Regals down Owen Sound

GUELPH – A run of five consecutive goals that started late in the second period and ended in the third proved to be the difference in the game as the Guelph Regals downed the Owen Sound North Stars 11-6 in Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League play at the Victoria Road arena Sunday.

The Creeks led 5-3 when they started their run while Owen Sound scored half of its goals in the final 10:05 of the game.

The Regals led 3-1 after the first period and 7-3 after the second.

Ethan and Marcus Keleher each had hat tricks while Owen Orpana added a pair of goals. Singletons were scored by Dylan Davey, Parker Lock and Cam Wheeldon. Charlie Boon assisted on four of the goals while Orpana, Marcus Keleher and Dallon Evans each had two assists. Ethan Keleher had one assist.

Sean McMahon, Joel Coghlin and Curtis Arnold each scored twice for Owen Sound while Carter Moran, Coghlin and Arnold each had two assists and McMahon and Jordan Cochrane had one assist apiece.

The Regals outshot Owen Sound 49-27 and went 2-for-4 on their power play while the North Stars were scoreless on two power plays.

Ty Fox-Trudel had 21 saves for the win in the Guelph net while Owen Sound’s Myles Playter had 38 saves.

The result leaves the Regals at 11-5-0 and Owen Sound at 6-8-0.
