Gaels grab fourth in senior boys’ volleyball standings

GUELPH – The Guelph CVI Green Gaels secured a home game in the District 10 high school senior boys’ playoffs by completing their regular season with a 3-1 victory over the Bishop Macdonell Celtics Thursday.

That result combined with a 3-1 win for the Ross Royals over the St. James Lions left the Gaels fourth at 7-7 and the Lions at 6-8.

GCVI is to host St. James in Monday’s quarter-finals.

Ross finished first at 13-1 with Centennial Spartans second at 12-2, Lourdes Crusaders third at 10-4, GCVI fourth, St. James fifth, Centre Wellington Falcons sixth at 5-9, Bishop Mac seventh at 3-11 and Orangeville Bears eighth at 0-14.

The other quarter-finals Monday have Ross hosting Orangeville, Centennial hosting Bishop Mac and Lourdes hosting Centre Wellington.

Monday’s quarter-finals are to start at 4 p.m.

Junior Boys’ Volleyball

Ross and Centennial finished tied for first at 12-2 with Ross winning the tiebreaker. Centre Wellington (10-4) was third, Lourdes (8-6) fourth, Bishop Mac (5-9) fifth, GCVI (4-10) sixth, Orangeville (4-10) seventh and St. James (1-13) eighth.
