Green Gaels seniors cap off unbeaten regular season
GUELPH – The Guelph CVI Green Gaels completed their undefeated run through the District 10 high school senior girls’ volleyball regular season Thursday when they swept the Lourdes Crusaders 3-0 at Lourdes.
The Gaels beat the Crusaders 25-12, 25-12, 25-11.
All matches on the final two days of the regular season were won by the visiting squad.
The Gaels, who had clinched first a couple of games ago, finished at 14-0 while the Centennial Spartans were at 11-3, St. James Lions at 10-4, Ross Royals at 9-5, Bishop Macdonell Celtics at 6-8, Centre Wellington Falcons and Orangeville Bears both at 3-11 and Lourdes at 0-14.
Thursday’s game was a preview of a quarter-final match Monday as the Gaels are to host Lourdes. Other quarter-finals Monday, all at 4 p.m., feature Orangeville at Centennial, Bishop Mac at Ross and Centre Wellington at St. James.
Semifinals are set for Wednesday while the league finals are to go Feb. 20 at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre. The junior match is to start the championship doubleheader at 6 p.m. while the senior final is to follow at 8 p.m.

Junior Girls’ Volleyball
Bishop Mac finished the regular season first at 13-1 and were followed by Centennial at 10-4, Centre Wellington at 9-5, Ross at 8-6, Orangeville at 7-7, GCVI at 5-9, St. James at 4-10 and Lourdes at 0-14.
In Monday’s quarter-finals, Lourdes is to play at Bishop Mac at 3:45 p.m., St. James is to play at Centennial at 4 p.m., GCVI is to play at Centre Wellington at 4 p.m. and Orangeville is to play at Ross at 4 p.m.
