WATERLOO – The Guelph Gryphons completed their OUA women’s field hockey league’s regular season Sunday morning with a 2-1 loss to the Waterloo Warriors on Warriors Field.

The game meant nothing in the final standings as the fifth-ranked Warriors had already clinched first place in the West Division and the fourth-ranked Gryphs were assured of a second-place finish.

The Warriors also took 11 penalty corners, three more than Guelph, and play was stopped for 42 Waterloo fouls and 16 Guelph fouls.

Waterloo finishes first in the West Division at 8-2-0 while the Gryphs are second at 5-4-1, Western Mustangs third at 4-6-0 and McMaster Marauders fourth at 2-8-0.

York Lions finish atop the East Division at 9-1-0 while the Toronto Varsity Blues are second at 8-2-0, Queen’s Gaels third at 3-6-1 and McGill Martlets fourth at 0-10-0.

The Gryphs are to host Western in a quarter-final playoff match Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Gryphon Soccer Complex. Game time is 7 p.m.
