Gryphon field hockey women to finish second in West Division
GUELPH – A second-quarter goal stood up as the game’s lone goal as the Guelph Gryphons were edged 1-0 by the Waterloo Warriors in OUA women’s field hockey play Friday night at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.
Laura Jacobs scored for the visitors in the final minute of the opening half.

The Gryphons outshot the Warriors 6-5 while Waterloo took 10 penalty corners, all in the second half, and the Gryphs took five with four of them being in the first half.
The result leaves the Gryphs at 5-3-1 and Waterloo at 7-2-0. It also cements the final finishing positions in the West Division as the Warriors will finish first and the Gryphs will finish second.
The Gryphs and Warriors are to meet again Sunday at 10 a.m. at Waterloo’s Warrior Field.
